Why I built this

I didn’t set out to build quoting software. I needed a tool to build out my own quotes, and what I could find was either a spreadsheet I kept rebuilding or software priced for a company with a sales team.

I also had a history of undercharging. Materials plus an hourly rate that sounded fair, send the number, and then find out at tax time, or when the shop bills came due, that the job had paid a lot less than it looked like it would. The hours spent designing, quoting and running for materials never made it onto any quote.

I have a programming background, so I wrote something to fix that for myself. Start from what the business needs to pay me, add what the shop costs to keep open, divide by the hours I can actually bill, and price every job from that number. Then the materials, board by board, and a quote the client can approve and put a deposit on.

That’s Quote It Right. The calculator is free with no signup because the number matters more than the account. The rest is priced for one-person shops, because that’s who I wrote it for. If something’s wrong, the email comes to me.

What a one-person product means for you

  • Support emails go to the person who wrote the code, not a ticket queue.
  • Your quotes are never locked in. Every one downloads as a PDF whenever you like.
  • Your data lives in Google Firebase and payments run through Stripe. If the product were ever to shut down, you’d get notice first and time to download your work.
  • Paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the free Starter plan has no time limit.

The details are in the privacy policy and the refund policy.
